Rong-Hua (Henry) Chen, President of Chugai Pharma Taiwan
Do you believe that a pharmaceutical company can invest a lot of time and money in research and development of drugs just to provide patients with the best treatment? Do you believe that a company is willing to keep up with evolving trends, just to encourage its employees to pursue work-life balance? Chugai Taiwan Pharma (CPT) has demonstrated that the real success of a company comes from the noble value of putting people first. A clinical trial for hemophilia A non-antibody patients was coming to an end. Since the drug is still in the national health insurance (NHI) approval process, patients participating in the trial were not able to seamlessly continue with drugs covered by the NHI and were facing no drugs available, which would affect the quality of follow-up treatment. The pharmaceutical company that developed the drug, CPT, immediately mobilized its staffs and actively communicated with its headquarter in Japan, and was even willing to absorb up to ten million New Taiwan dollars in costs just to distribute the drugs to patients free of charge. There is a touching reason behind this decision.
